Exterior Painting

Overview

This Midtown Tulsa bungalow was in very bad shape.  It was plagued with peeling paint, rotten wood, and bad caulk.  The color was hideous and it was the sore spot on an otherwise peasant street.

We began by washing and scraping this old house and getting the paint back down to solid a solid surface to build upon.  We then sprayed the entire thing with Peel Bond.  Peel Bond is a high build primer that hides surface imperfections.  It can be sprayed up to 40 mils thick in one pass.  This product is not cheap but it does a great job and the results speak for themselves.

Afterwards we caulked all the cracks in the residence and painted the exterior with Sherwin Williams Duration coating.  This is a lifetime guaranteed product and is top of the line.  You would be hard pressed to find a better coating.

Products

Primer:  Peel Bond High build primer

Customer Testimonial

Dukes painting did a great job at a great price. I did quite a bit of research before I hired Dukes, and chose them because I felt that they were the most knowledgeable and professional of all the painters I spoke to. I have an old house with almost 100 years of built up, cracked, alligatored, and peeling paint on the outside. In the high traffic areas, they smoothed the siding out such that it looked brand new -- not an easy task. Every thing looks great. We went from the ugliest house on the block, to the nicest looking one after Dukes was done with it.

Overview

This Midtown Colonial really needed a paint job. There was significant peeling and failing paint on all sides of the building.  We had a big job scraping this house.  After the scraping was finished we primed all the bare wood with Sherwin Williams exterior wood primer.  We then caulked all the cracks and replaced all back caulk.  Then we finished the siding with Sherwin Williams Super Paint using our Spray-Brush-Spray technique.

This painting project included painting the carport in the rear of the property.

Overview:

The brick molding on all of the front windows on this house were rotted.  Water damage had rotted the window trim to the point that it was nearly disintegrated.  We removed the old rotten trim and replaced it with PVC brick molding.  This type of trim is made of vinyl plastic and is impervious to the weather, insects, and water damage.  The new trim will last for decades.

We then caulked and painted the newly installed trim.

In addition to this we painted the shutters on the front of the house.  They were faded and needed to be freshened up.

Products:

Sherwin Williams Super Paint exterior latex for the white trim.
Sherwin Williams A-100 exterior latex for the Shutters.  Super Paint is not available in the deep colors requested.

From the Home Owners:

After receiving several estimates for work that needed to be done on our home, we chose Dukes Painting.  Marty Dukes did an outstanding job on our exterior painting!  His professionalism, attention to detail and excellent work made us look forward to hiring him again!  He took care of more than we had asked once he realized that the wood around our windows needed to be replaced, not just painted.  We appreciate his honesty and great skills. More important than paint on our house, he was so kind to our two small children who were interested in watching him work for two days!  They kept a close eye on him and he was a great sport!  Thank you, Marty for taking care of our home's curb appeal! Thanks so much for everything!!!

Dukes Painting and Repair has some great news that we would like to share with you.  We have landed a contract that will put us in Antarctica for the winter.

The National Science Foundation, USAP and the US government send hundreds of people to Antarctica each year to carry out research and science missions.  These missions include biological studies of the micro-organisms that live in the harshest climate on earth to astrology and atmospherical studies.  Antarctica provides a great place for these kinds of studies because it is relatively untouched by man and the polution that affects the rest of the earth.

All of this science and the scientists that are there require support.  There are buildings to be built, equipment to be maintained, and life support services that must be operated. This requires the services of skilled and talented tradesmen.

Dukes Painting and Repair has been selected as one of few contractors to travel to Antarctica each to help in a support role.   We will be painting and finishing, and protecting buildings and equipment in one of the harshest climates in the world.

We will be in Antarctica, and therefore, away from Oklahoma from September until approximately the end of February.  We will still be in touch if you need us, just know that it may take several days or weeks to get back to you.  This also means that we will not be available for estimates or work until Feb 2010.  I apologize if you need work done quickly as we will not be able to accommodate you.

However, we would love to work with you in the spring and hope you will work with us.  Wouldn't it be great to have your house painted by one of the few companies in the world that has experience painting in Antarctica!?

If you want to keep updated on what is happening with us and how things are going in Antarctica.you can follow us on twitter at http://www.twitter.com/tulsapainter  Or you can just check back on this website as I will be posting regular updates.

Have a great winter and I hope to work with you in the spring.

Thanks

Marty Dukes,  - Owner, Dukes Painting and Repair.

"Too bad all contractor experiences can't be like this. I set up an appointment online with Dukes Painting for an exterior paint estimate. Marty showed up promptly, examined our house, explained his entire process, and submitted the quote later that evening. The rest of the job went just as smoothly; and the house looks great. If you're looking for an outstanding paint job at a reasonable price, you need look no further."
